System Administrator

Hybrid (London office / remote)

Purpose:

Technical support of customer and internally delivered environments, to ensure services meet or exceed expectations and contractual commitments. This is a hands-on technical support role requiring a varied skill set and a willingness to get involved in technologies outside your current skill set.

Principle duties:

  • Responsible for managing service support tickets for private hosted customer environments. Ensuring tickets are completed with contractual SLAs
  • Support, guide and train current and new System Administrators
  • Act as point of technical escalation for 1st and 2nd Line Customer Service team
  • Support and administer private cloud hosted solutions – Predominantly VMware Cloud Foundation
  • Support Solution Architects to build and deliver new solutions and services
  • Responsible for documenting and reviewing technical design documents for all new and changed services
  • Responsible for adherence to change management process for all supported environments
  • Accountable for ensuring Standard Operating Procedures are in place and followed
  • Server infrastructure configuration, security and maintenance
  • Capacity and performance management
  • Software configuration, updates, deployment and management
  • Security assessment and vulnerability mitigation of hardware and software estate
  • Hardware installation and configuration in corporate and client data centers across the UK
  • 2nd/3rd level technical support for a live service, internal and managed service contracts
  • Highlighting areas of service and technology for improvement
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by the business

Essential Skills:

Essential

  • Active directory
  • Microsoft product support and administration Windows, server, Share Point, Office etc.
  • Infrastructure management: Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware, Citrix, and backup solutions
  • Network & security: LAN, WAN, VPN, DNS, firewall management, and network routing
  • Systems & tools: SCCM, PowerShell, Python, Office 365, Share Point, Terraform, and Group Policy
  • Ticketing system use
  • Understanding of SLAs

 

Desirable

  • VMware Cloud Foundation
  • VDI Environment Administration
  • Firewall administration, Fortinet preferred
  • Linux OS preferably Ubuntu
  • Microsoft Intune
  • Microsoft EntraID
  • Cloud Platforms: Microsoft Azure (Azure AD, IaaS, PaaS, Azure DevOps), Amazon AWS
  • Understanding of Cyber Essentials +
